Echo Seminar- Workshop for
Echo Seminar-Workshop in Gender and Development (GAD) was conducted in the school last July 16 and 23, 2011, facilitated by Two Teachers, one Guidance Coordinator, who attended the GAD Seminar-Workshop in Kapatagan Lanao del Norte last June 2011, and Dr. Pablo B. Nisnisan, our new School Head. The Echo seminar-Workshop aimed to orient the teachers and employees of the school the importance of Peace in the Basic Education Curriculum and integrate it in every part of the teaching-learning process. Teachers, as well as students and their parents, should know the different information, rights and cultures, and strategies in order to attain peace in the educational system.
On the first day, July 16, 2011, registration of teacher participants started at 7:30-8:00 A.M followed by an Opening Program and statement of the Purpose. Topics on “Overview of Gender Concepts, Gender and Culture, and Gender Bias” were discussed by Dr. Pablo B. Nisnisan, our school head. After taking snacks, topics on “Peace Education and Discipline vs. Abuse” were discussed by Mr. Rogelio C. Pepito, the school Peace Coordinator and Facilitator.
Lunch break was declared at 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M.
At 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M topic on “Introduction to Human Rights” was discussed by Mrs. Rebecca L. Meguillo, our Guidance Coordinator. Mrs. Venus B. Pepito, the designated Values Education of the school discussed the topic on “Women’s Rights”.
The session ended at around 4:45 P.M.
The continuation of the seminar-workshop was held on July 23, 2011. At 7:30-8:30 in the morning, Opening Program and Recapitulation started followed by the discussion and workshop on the “Rights of the Child” given by Mrs. Rebecca L. Meguillo. She then touched the topic on “Learn without Fear”. Lunch break followed.
After lunch, the topic on “Non-violent Reaction” was discussed by Mrs. Venus B. Pepito followed by “Restorative Circle” which was discussed by Mr. Rogelio C. Pepito.
After every topic discussed, workshops followed. Closing Program started at 4:00 P.M.
